The province of Castellón hosts tomorrow the First edition of the Castellón Grand Prix – Ceramics Route, an international cycling event that brings together the best riders in the world at the start of the season. Promoted by the Castellón Provincial Council, it will cover a total of 173.9 kilometres between Castellón and the Onda Tile Museum., with the ascent to the Collado de Ayódar in the final part to add excitement to a race with live television coverage.

These have been months of frenetic work for the organization, which has managed to turn this event into the most important and acclaimed in the region, thanks to the support of the Castellón Provincial Council and the municipalities of Onda and CastellónThe involvement of institutions and sponsors guarantees the sporting success of this world event.
It is not just a sporting event, but all fans will be able to enjoy a great atmosphere and the proximity of their stars with the presence of the team caravan and the Fan Zone, with sponsor tents in the starting area. At 11.40 am the presentation of teams will begin in the Ribalta Park in Castellón and the starting gun will be fired at 13 hours in a neutralized manner. A few minutes before, all the authorities with Marta Barrachina, president of the Castellón Provincial Council, and the mayor of Castellón, Begoña Carrasco, will carry out the formal ribbon cutting.
As for the Participating teams In this first edition, the presence of is confirmed 7 WorldTeam teams. They highlight the UAE Team Emirates, the best team in the world in 2023, which will run among others with Igor Arrieta (podium in the Volta a Castelló 2021); or the Movistar Team (the only Spanish team in the top category) which includes Alex Aramburu and the Spanish champion, Oier Lazkano. They will also be joined by the Cofidis, Arkea B&B and AG2R Decathlon French, the Jayco Australian with the important asset of Michael Matthews and the Astana from Kazakhstan.
There will also be all the Spanish Professional Continental teams: the Euskaltel Euskadi from the Basque Country with the Valencian Joan Bou, the Kern Pharma Team and the Rural Insurance Fund RGA from Navarra, the latter aspiring to triumph with Orluis Aular; Burgos BH of Castile and Leon, in addition to the Polti Kometa Italian, the professional team of the great Alberto Contador that will be in the fight. This list also includes the Total Energies French or the Lotto Dstny and Bingoal Belgian.
In the Continental category, the new team Balearic Islands Arabay will also be in the Castellón Grand Prix – Ruta de la Cerámica. Gonzalo Ariño, a local cyclist from Onda, will compete there. The incorporation of Lidl Trek Development, the subsidiary team of the North American structure, raises the level of the event even further. The list will be completed with a total of 18 national and international teams from 9 different countries that will allow for a truly luxurious participation on the roads of Castellón.
The real start of the Castellón Grand Prix will take place in front of the Auditorium, heading towards the La Coma development. At kilometre 7, the High of the Coma, which counts towards the mountain prize and will allow the day's breakaway to form before reaching Borriol.
The brave ones who get ahead of the main group will continue to Cabanes and cross Alba Valley on a first occasion at kilometre 30.6 to contest the Intermediate Sprint, and again at kilometre 77.2 for the second Intermediate Sprint. In between, they will climb the High Sierra Engarcerán (km 53) second category.
The competition will then be directed to Saint John of Moró for the third Intermediate Sprint (km 102) and after crossing l'Alcora will head to the Sichar reservoir, a very winding area where the main peloton will begin to reduce the gap.
After crossing a large part of the tile industry of Castellón, the cyclists will arrive at Vibe for the first time at kilometre 154, just 20 kilometres from the finish. After this first pass through Onda, the cyclists will have to climb to the Ayódar Pass (2nd category) which will be crowned with 5 kilometers remaining to the finish line. All the spice and final excitement in the dizzying descent that will lead the peloton to the Onda Tile Museum to compete in a short sprint. The riders will face a rFinal 250-meter ampa at 12% with a medium slope to select a high-level winner. The first winner of the Castellón – Ruta de la Cerámica Grand Prix will be crowned there.
