The Castellón GP – Ruta de la Cerámica, the epicentre of world cycling on 21 January
“Sport is an excellent platform to show the great potential of our province at all levels, which is why we are going to launch this Ruta de La Cerámica and we are going to strengthen the support of the Provincial Council for cycling,” stressed the president of the Provincial Council of Castellón, Marta Barrachina.
Cycling and Castellón are in luck. On January 21st, one of the first major cycling events in the world will be held, with the celebration of the GP Castellón – Ruta de la Cerámica. The promotion of this competition by the Castellón Provincial Council, with its president Marta Barrachina at the helm, is the best example of the commitment to promote the province as a sports venue.
The race will take place in the province of Castellón and, in particular, in the municipalities with a ceramics industry. The best international teams and cyclists will take part in the competition. The decisive part of the race will be broadcast live on television.
Many of the world's top cycling riders will make their debut on the roads of Castellón on January 21. The GP Castellón – Ruta de la Cerámica, a category 1.1 race on the UCI (International Cycling Union) European calendar, will feature at least 18 national and international teams, including several WorldTeam teams, the best in the world and those who compete in races such as the Tour de France or La Vuelta a España.
“Sport is an excellent platform to show the great potential of our province at all levels, which is why we are going to launch this Ruta de La Cerámica and we are going to strengthen the support of the Provincial Government for cycling,” stressed the President of the Provincial Government.
For his part, the director of the organisation, José Cabedo, has highlighted the previous work: “It is a project on which we have been working very hard for months, with the hope that Castellón, within its commitment to sport, will be right at the start of the world calendar and the epicentre of cycling. That is why I believe that the presence of the best international teams and also the cycling talent of Castellón is a guarantee of success for the event in the same year of its birth.”
The final part of the race will be broadcast live on television to reveal the first winner of the GP Castellón – Ruta de la Cerámica. In the coming days, the start and finish locations, the detailed route and the participating teams will be revealed. All of this will be in preparation for the official presentation of the race on Monday 18 December at the Castellón Provincial Council, in an event that will be headed by the president Marta Barrachina.
