The first edition of the Gran Premio Castellón – Ruta de la Cerámica, held on January 21, brought together a national and international participation of enormous level. At the Gran Premio Castellón, the final ramp towards the finish line of the Ruta de la Cerámica showed Alex Aramburu's quality in this type of finish. On the podium and with a great pedal stroke, the Movistar team rider went on to win the Tour of Belgium and become the new Spanish road champion.
